Die allererste Planung zum aktuellen Botany-Bay-Album “Stupid Summer Dreams” sah vor, im Booklet jeden einzelnen Song mit einem Bild zu illustrieren und daneben den Text abzudrucken.

Sehr schnell wurde jedoch klar, daß ein solches Unterfangen nur mit einem erheblichen finanziellen – und für 6 Songs und eine limitierte Auflage von nur 200 Stück maßlos übertriebenem – Aufwand einher gegangen wäre. Und so wurde aus dem Booklet ein – immer noch sehr schönes! – 6seitiges Faltblatt mit Songzitaten und Fotos für die Vorder- Innen- und Rückseite.

Weil’s aber schade darum wäre, die Fotos nicht irgendwie zu veröffentlichen und mit der Musik in Verbindung zu bringen, soll dies nun in einer Serie hier auf massenbelichtungswaffen.de geschehen, den Anfang macht der Opener, “Death In The Afternoon”; das Bild wurde fotographiert von Frau K., die Bearbeitung stammt von mir.

Hier nur noch eine kleine, bescheidene Bitte von mir: Bitte die Musik einfach mal anhören. Das geht ganz einfach, indem man da oben auf Play klickt.

Und wenn der erste Song nicht gefällt, vielleicht tut es ja der zweite oder der dritte. Die klingen mitnichten alle gleich. Und nur weil es freie Musik ist und wir keinen Plattenvertrag haben, ist die spätestens zu diesem Zeitpunkt üblicherweise bei 99% der Internet-Konsumierenden einsetzende gedankliche Verbindung mit der dritklassigen, lärmigen Heavy-Metal / Gothic / Grindcore / Ambient / Elektronikgedudel-Hinterhofband vom Nachbarssohn eine vollkommen Falsche. Es handelt sich hier um etwas völlig anderes.

Immer wieder im Leben gibt es diese Momente, da ist die Tatsache, dass man überhaupt einen Fotoapperat dabei hat, wesentlich wichtiger als die Frage, ob es sich um das neueste und schönste Modell handelt.

Wiesbaden, letztes Jahr im Oktober, war genau so ein Fall.

Ich hatte zusammen mit meiner Band, Botany Bay, in Wiesbaden ein Konzert gegeben, weil wir den free music contest gewonnen hatten. Dieses Konzert war zwar beim Publikum glücklicherweise gut angekommen, für mich persönlich war’s allerdings gleich aus mehreren Gründen große Kacke.

Ohne in die Tiefe gehen zu wollen – wie das im Leben manchmal so ist, geschahen damals etliche deprimierende, unnötige und schmerzhafte Dinge, und zwar netterweise alle gleichzeitig… und vermutlich aus dem gleichen Grund habe ich Wiesbaden als Ort in Erinnerung, an dem ich nicht tot aus dem Fenster hängen möchte (oder mir vor dem Bahnhof die Beine in den Rumpf stehen, was sich so ähnlich anfühlt).

Mit unterwegs war eher aus Zufall meine Fototasche und eine alte Minolta Dimage A1. Am Abend des Konzertes war ich nicht dazu gekommen, irgendwelche Fotos zu machen (um der Wahrheit die Ehre zu geben, ich dachte noch nicht mal im Entferntesten daran).

Am nächsten Tag aber, nachdem wir in unserem Hotelzimmer aufgewacht waren und Wiesbadens trübe Skyline auf uns wirken ließen, da schnappte sich Wolfgang seine Gitarre und ich (in Ermangelung eines Klaviers) eben jene in die Jahre gekommene Dimage A1.

Die Fotos, die an jenem Morgen entstanden, erst im Hotelzimmer und später rund um den Bahnhof, wo ich erstmal erfolglos auf meine Mitfahrgelegenheit wartete, sind für mich heute etwas ganz Besonderes, weil sie meine Stimmung an jenem Tag nahezu perfekt transportieren… und das, obwohl (oder vielleicht auch weil) sie nur mit einer uralten 5-Megapixel-Knipse aufgenommen wurden.

Was bleibt ist zwar einerseits die Erinnerung an einen dieser Tage, an denen ich mich wie der einsamste und dümmste Mensch auf der ganzen Welt fühlte… andererseits aber eine Sammlung von Bildern, von denen ich sehr froh bin, sie gemacht zu haben.

Denn irgendwie erzählen die Bilder von allem, was damals war. Und ermahnen mich, die Dinge in Zukunft anders in die Hand zu nehmen.
